Opening a NEW Donor Advised Fund:
December 15, 2017
Your AEF Donor Advised Fund Application will need to be completed by this date. This should allow enough time to get assets transferred. Other deadlines to know include:
- All checks must be USPS postmarked by 12/31/2017 and sent directly to American Endowment Foundation, 5700 Darrow Road, Ste. 118, Hudson, OH 44236 for the deposit to qualify for a 2017 tax receipt.
- Sending a check via an alternative carrier such as FedEx or UPS will not qualify as a proof of sending.
- For the deposit of marketable securities, the deposit must hit the investment account by 12/31/2017 to receive a 2017 tax receipt.
Please be aware that different financial custodians may have deadlines that may restrict how and when certain assets can be transferred. Please check with your platform concerning their deadlines.
If you are not registered within the state of Ohio, you must complete your registration for the donor advised fund to be completed.
Grant Making Deadlines:
December 7, 2017: Manual grants using a Grant Recommendation Form
December 15, 2017: Grants made through DonorCentral
If an AEF donor intends to recommend grants out of a newly created AEF Donor Advised Fund (DAF) - the DAF needs to be created no later than the first week of December to ensure there is time to book the gifts (10 business days) as well as process the grant (10 business days).
Grant recommendations received after the above dates will be processed in the order in which received and MAY be processed in January 2018.
