Giving Info That Advisors Can Share with their Clients

Submitted by American Endowment Foundation on November 7th, 2022

By Ken Nopar, VP-Senior Philanthropic Advisor

As the holiday season approaches, some clients start to think about their year-end charitable giving, often in response to requests for donations. Fortunately, most AEF donors send grants throughout the year and do not wait until November and December, but many who have recently established DAF accounts have not yet developed a philanthropic strategy or plan.

Gifts

A number of financial advisors contact AEF at this time of year to ask for suggestions for client events or meetings during which they will discuss charitable planning. For events, it may be appropriate for some firms to invite local charities to provide an overview of needs in their local communities. Others may wish to invite other trusted advisors, such as estate planning attorneys or tax and philanthropic advisors, to provide guidance about how to have the greatest charitable impact during lifetime or after death.

Many advisors prefer to conduct these client events or meetings on their own, and AEF is pleased to share content with advisors that is helpful as they plan for them.  Though initially intended to just help AEF donors achieve their charitable goals, we’re pleased to help advisors as they help all of their clients.

AEF’s Library for Donors contains columns authored by AEF and other leading philanthropic advisors that cover areas including Developing a Mission and Plan, How to Evaluate Charities, How To Give With Impact, and How To Engage Family among others. Some advisors include these columns in their newsletters to their clients, blogs, and podcasts and are pleased to attribute the content to AEF.

At American Endowment Foundation, we look forward to helping advisors and their clients determine the best strategies for charitable giving. Please contact us or call at 1-888-966-8170 with any questions.
