Nationally in 2020, over 140,000 new donor advised funds (DAFs) were created, bringing the total number of DAFS in existence to over 1 million for the first time. Generous donors gave out nearly $35 billion in grant recommendations to support their favorite worthy causes.
At American Endowment Foundation (AEF), in 2021, we were able to serve over 3100 new donors who provided over $1 billion toward charitable good by opening new DAFs. Last year, generous AEF donors gave over $800 million in grant recommendations through over 82,000 grants.
Recognizing the growing importance that DAFs play in American charitable giving, at AEF we realized that we needed to revolutionize the process in how new funds are opened, making the process faster and easier for the donors and the financial advisors who serve them.
Partner Gateway is AEF’s web-based system built to streamline the DAF application process for licensed financial advisors. For those advisors who already work with us, the process involves a simple online verification method where they confirm the information we have on record to ensure that the data is current. Once completed, they are able to use the Partner Gateway to manage all fund applications moving forward.

For those advisors who are new to AEF, they can complete their Partner Gateway registration by completing some additional steps to become an approved partner in working with AEF.
